About the Institute
The interfacultary research platform "Institute for Islamic Studies" was founded in the summer of 2012 by six faculties of the University of Vienna. Among the founders were the deans of the faculties of Catholic-Theology, Evangelic-Theology, Law, Historical and Cultural Sciences, Philological and Cultural Sciences and Philosophy and Education.
The Goal of the Institute
The aim of the "Institute for Islamic Studies" is to strengthen the islamic- and religious educational research and teaching. To build networks through research activites, promote cooperations and fill knowledge gaps is of great concern to us. A special focus lies on the scientific education of the young academics (trained clerics and spiritual advisors). To foster the interdisciplinary involvement of the "Institute for Islamic Studies", it's staff is going to apply it's knowledge to different curricula at the University of Vienna.
